It's been a while since we've posted anything, so here's a very special picture of Zachary's little sister.
This morning Victoria was moving around with her little hands balled up into fists in front of her. She gave us a big yawn as if to show how bored she was with the whole procedure. She's measuring big so we're expecting a very healthy baby come June.

This weekend was a very busy weekend for us. Matt and I attended "Romeo and Julie" at the Dallas Opera on Friday night. On Saturday we took Zach to see "Gnomeo & Juliet" in 3-D, and then on Sunday we rearranged the rooms and got Zach is big boy bed. We decided to get him the dinosaur bedding from Pottery Barn Kids which he was extremely excited about. When Matt came home with the mattress and box spring and no dinosaur sheets, Zach took one look at the fluffy mattress and all he saw were the flowers on the bare mattress. He immediately said, "That's not a dinosaur bed - that a flower bed." It was pretty funny. All he wanted to do was play "Monkeys jumping on the bed" and would absolutely not get down. As he was jumping (while holding my hands), he let out a big sign and said, "Zachary really happy right now." It was adorable!
When it was time to go to bed, things didn't go as well. First night in the big boy bed and mommy had to sleep with him. I'm hoping things go better tonight. I think it will just be a matter of him getting used to it. He looks so small in that HUGE bed.

We just found out that we are having a girl! All 3 of us are very excited. Zach has even started thinking of names: Barbie, Brontosaurus, and Lightning McQueen.

We celebrated Zach's 2nd birthday this past weekend at the Little Gym. All the kids had a blast running around jumping on everything. It's now Monday morning, and Zach is still saying "Zach's Birfday"

Sea World

We took a day trip day to San Antonio and went to Sea World. Zach did great on the plane and had fun at Sea World, even though it rained the first part of the day. He was so worn out by the end of the day, he fell asleep as soon as we got back in the rental car. He slept though us taking his seat out of the rental car, riding on the rental car shuttle, and walking through the airport. He slept until the TSA agent made us wake him up to go through security.

Zachary got some new toys from one of our neighbors. Its a toy parking garage for cars. It has a mini slide on it. Zach tried to go down it, but only his leg would fit.

I was working on the motorcycle this weekend. Zach never wants to sit and watch, we wants to help. He dug in my tool box and tried out every wrench, screwdriver, plyers, putty knife, wire nut, electical tape, allen wrenches, and zip ties on my bike. Mimi and Papa come to visit us in Dallas

We had Mimi and Papa Angelo come to visit us the weekend from Houston. It was a full packed weekend which started off with a visit to Grapevine to see Thomas the Train. The "Day Out with Thomas" included a train ride, temporary tattoos, a petting zoo, playtime at the train tables, and even a new Engineer's hat.

We also got to relax around the house and spend some time at the park.

Allie's Visit to Dallas

Allie came up to visit us in the Big-D last weekend. We had a full packed weekend and had a blast. On Friday we headed over to the Dallas Children's Museum (got the idea from visiting the one in the Woodlands which was awesome!), then on Saturday we went to Six Flags and Missy joined us, Sunday we went to the lake with the whole gang, and finally on Monday we had a relaxing day feeding the ducks near Teddy Bear Park.

Fort Worth Zoo

We visited the Fort Worth Zoo recently. Wow! It is so much better than the Dallas zoo. We saw lots of animals including the gorillas (which I was terrified of), elephants, lions, several species of birds, and giraffes.

We were able to go with some of Zach's friends, Sofia and Lilly. All the kids had a blast and we even got to sit on the front row! What a show - even the big kids liked it!

Our Big Boy Turns 1!

Zachary turned 1 year old on Sunday and we celebrated by eating his favorite meal ( spaghetti and turkey sausage) and having a red velvet cupcake. He was scared of the single candle that flickered on top so Mommy had to help him blow it out. We also let him open four presents which were the Kawasaki 4-wheeler, Elmo Live (which he is terrified of), his puzzle puppy, and a set of big boy Legos. Mommy and Daddy have also been getting everything ready for his big party this weekend. We are so excited to see all of his family and friends and can't wait for them to get here.

Today we also had his 1 year checkup at the doctor's office. He is officially 23.5 lbs. (55th percentile), 30 3/4 inches tall (80th percentile), and 19 inches in head circumference (90th percentile). Like I've said before, it's all those brains he gets from his Daddy. He also got three shots and had blood drawn. He was such a tough guy that he didn't even cry for any of it. One word - AMAZING! I was so prepared for the delayed scream that I was holding his hands and kissing his forhead and then he didn't even cry at all. I just stood there in amazement.

Today is Zachary's first birthday. People always tell us how kids grow up quick...it is very true. Candace and I can't believe that it has already been one year since we drove to the hospital at 2am last 4th of July after swimming all day and watching fireworks. Zachary Get His First Haircut

Before

We took Zachary to get his very first haircut this morning. There is this little barber shop that Matt has gone to for several years near our old condo. Matt's barber lady, Susie, did the honors and gave Zach his first little trim.

During

Zach was very interested in the place as well as the scissors that Susie used to cut his hair. We brought a toy to keep him interested and sit still, but he pretty much moved all over the place anyway. That being said, Susie was still able to give him a very nice haircut. We decided to not cut a few of the curls on the side and I saved a few clippings for his baby book.
So, Zach is officially a big boy now. He has a big boy haircut and sat in the big boy chair. Overall he did really well and didn't even cry. Good job Zach!

Vacation in Florida & Zachary turned 10 months old

We just got back from an awesome vacation in Florida with our friends, Jim, Kristen, and Ella. It was so peaceful and relaxing and the weather was absolutely perfect.

While there, we watched the sunrise over the ocean, did some shopping, went on a bike ride, toured the Thomas Edison museum, went shell hunting, and just had a good time in general.

We were able to take our nanny, Ashleigh, which made things a LOT easier and actually got to enjoy a night out to dinner one evening.

The main form of transportation was via golf cart which was so much fun. We even took the golf cart out to dinner when we got all dressed up. So much fun - we should have gotten some pictures of that.

Thanks to Jim and Kristen for inviting us - we hope we can do it again!

On our second Easter Egg hunt Zach was sitting on the blanket with Lilly and Sofia. There happened to be a reporter taking video and we caught a glimpse of them in a video they posted.

9 Month Checkup

Zachary turned 9 months on April 5th and we finally went to his 9 month check up this morning. He did great. Mommy got a lecture on feeding him in the middle of the night when he wakes up. I know I shouldn't be feeding him, but it's the only way he'll go back to sleep. We're going to have to give him "tough love" and let him cry it out again. Doctor's orders! I hate that.

On happier note he hit all the marks for height and weight. He is officially 22.1 lbs (75th percentile), 29 inches long (75th percentile), and 18 1/2 inches in head circumference (90th percentile). That boy has big brains. :) I told the doctor that he took after Da-Da on that one.

Zach is doing great in other areas as well. He says Da-Da VERY well along with other words such as ba-ba, ga-ga, and something that sounds like Hi! Still no Ma-Ma yet. boo hoo. I think it's just because he's saving it up for night when he can yell it at the top of his lungs. That will be one of those nights when I go rushing into his room to pick him up. That will be hard.
He is rocking back and forth on all fours too. He can scoot backwards, but not forwards just yet. He loves to stand with the support of Ma-Ma, Da-Da, or Ashleigh. He has also been displaying more stranger anxiety lately too and when I leave to go to work in the morning he cries. Poor little guy. But the doctor said it's all on target with what he's supposed to be doing at this age. So all is good.

Zach is growing up fast. He already looks like a little man and his baby rolls are going away.

Hoppy Easter!

It's almost Easter and Zach and I decided to start celebrating early. Ashleigh and I took Zach to an Easter Egg Hunt today at the park. I decided to take off of work a little early to get to the park by 4 pm. We were about 10 minutes late and by the time we showed up all the eggs were gone. All we went home with was one lone egg that Ashleigh found on the ground... empty.

Luckily, the petting zoo was in full swing and they had lots of cute animals.

Zach didn't know what to make of all the little critters, but he did his best to pose for a few pictures at least.
Thanks to Ashleigh for snapping away like mad. It it hadn't been for her, we wouldn't have had any pictures at all since I had my hands full with Zach and trying to protect him from the squealing piglets.

First Swim Lesson

We took Zach to his first swim lesson on Saturday and he loved it! We sang songs and he kicked and paddled (with us holding him the whole time of course). Our instructor's name was Ariel which was just so perfect. Zach really liked her and she was a great leader of the little shrimp school.

Zachary took his first plane ride this past weekend to go visit all his Angelo relatives in Mississippi. He did great on the plane! He enjoyed meeting all his cousins, aunts, uncles, and most of all, his Great Gran!

Yummy Toes!

Zachary has discovered his feet and likes to suck on his toes. I know it sounds gross right? Yeah, I know.. but it's so stinking cute. Every time we start to change his diaper his toes immediately go into his mouth. This only started a couple of days ago and now he does it all the time. He also just starting getting his second tooth. It's just barely poking out. I still can't get a good picture of it, but maybe some day. Yay!

Today is Zach's 5 month old birthday. Last night Matt discovered that our little man just got in his first tooth. We were both so excited that we called our parents immediately to share the news. We even tried to take a close up picture of the itty bitty tooth poking up through the surface of his gums but he was much too squirmy to get a decent shot. After this milestone discovery I started thinking about all the neat things we have witnessed so far in his 5 months. As a continuation of our Thanksgiving I'd like to share some of the amazing things I'm thankful for that our dear Zachary shares with us on a daily basis.

I'm thankful that he is contantly smiling and laughing. The first thing we see when we get him out of his crib in the morning is a huge ear to ear grin. He giggles at the silliest things and Daddy can really get him going with some HUGE belly laughs.
I'm thankful that he is starting to blow raspberries (Mommy likes to call them strawberries).
I'm thankful that he tries to suck his thumb while he's drinking his bottle. It's so cute watching him try to get the best of both worlds.
I'm thankful that he is starting to hold his hands up when we approach him as if asking, "pick me up, pick me up."
I'm thankful that he likes to lean towards things he wants - even people - because it lets us know that he knows us.
I'm thankful for his cute little bashful turn towards us if he encounters someone new.
I'm thankful that he knows how to put the pacifier back in his mouth.
I'm thankful that he is soooo close to rolling over by himself.
I'm thankful that he got his first tooth last night.
And I'm thankful for so much more that I can't possibly list it all....

I'm going to try to get a picture of that tooth again. I will keep you posted. Until later...

Zach has his first tooth. I rarely let Zach chew on my hands, but for some reason, I let him tonight. I felt a sharp little pressure point on my thumb. So I looked into his mouth and there is a little tooth coming in from the bottom.

We had a few ups and downs this month but overall it was really good. Zachary is finally sleeping through the night with a few interruptions every now and then. Yesterday we went to his 4 month check up and he weighed a whopping 17.1 lbs. (85th percentile)! He is still not rolling over or sitting up but these days are before us and I know it's going to happen any day. One neat thing that did happen was on Wednesday when Zach, Ashleigh, and I all went to the grocery store together and we witnessed, for the very first time, Zachary putting his pacifier in his mouth all by himself. He repeated this for us to see TWICE! I was so excited that I called Matt at home to tell him the news. I know, I'm a dork, but I just can't help but get excited at these little milestones. It's so fun! Our next project... rolling over. He's almost there.

Halloween

Zachary had a very busy first Halloween! First we spent all day at the Southwest Airlines Halloween party. Then we come home and headed down to the block party in our new neighborhood. Zach slept most of the time, but we got to meet more of the neighbors!

Tractors are cool!

I took Zachary to the Dallas Arboretum on Saturday with two of his friends and it was beautiful. He was a little fussy and can't really sit up on his own yet, but we managed to get a few good pictures. The weather was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better day.

Zachary after a good night's sleep

Today is Zach's 3 month old birthday and last night was the very first time he actually slept through the night. We went to dinner with the Scotts and the Novels and got home around 8:30 pm. He went to bed at 9 pm and didn't wake up until 6 am this morning. Now, I know some people would not consider this sleeping though the night... I've heard when they sleep 8 to 8 then that's really sleeping though the night, but I've been singing Hallelujah all morning.
I'm trying to not get my hopes up for tonight, but we will see how it goes. It would be "extra" nice if he could start making a habit of this since I go back into the office tomorrow.

First Week Back at Work

I made it through my first week back at work. Our nanny, Ashleigh, worked part-time while I worked from home and it was wonderful. I had a hard time trying not to intervene in every feeding, story, stroller ride, and coo. Each time I looked over and saw my little guy having fun without me, it just melted my heart. I know it will be hard to physically go back to work, but it's reassuring to know that he's in good hands. Ashleigh has been a blessing to our family and I'm thankful for that.
Next week, I'm back at Southwest full-time.
Time to bring home the bacon!

I don't know if this is normal or not, but Zach smiles in his sleep. He has done it since he was one day old in the hospital. I've heard some people say it's just gas, but he does it ALL OF THE TIME! And just recently I've caught him smiling while he's awake too. We got a few pictures of him smiling ear to ear and it looks as if he's dreaming. I'm not exactly sure what babies dream about, but it sure is cute. What I really want to know is if it could really be a true smile, or is it just as they say 'a little bit of gas'?

Here we all are when Zach was 1 day old. We have since headed home and Zachary, Mommy, and Daddy are all doing great. Day 2 and night 2 have been a little easier than the first night. We're still on cloud 9.

Introducing Zachary Angelo. Zachary was 7lbs 5oz born at 3:10pm. Candace and Zachary did a great job. Both are doing fine and mom is recovering.

Candace started having contractions last night about 10pm. We waited to 1:15am, then came to the hospital. The Dr. broke the water at about 7am and now she is dilated to 4cm. She put up with the contractions for 8 hours before asking for epidural. She is doing great! I will post more updates shortly.

I'll let everyone know when we are ready for visitors.

Brad came up for a quick visit yesterday before heading off to Iraq soon. We were hoping he might get to meet his nephew before he left, but no luck. We hung out by the pool, had a few beers, shot some guns, and had dinner at Aunt Susan's house.

Just got back from the doc.
I am about 70% effaced now and still only about a fingertip dilated.
The plan is to induce me on Monday at 7:30 am.
Matt and I will have to show up at the hospital at 7 am and they told me that I can't eat breakfast. Yikes!!! What am I going to do without breakfast? (kidding)

Dr. Singer did make a comment that he thought he would come this weekend, but we're not really sure what that is based on since I am not really dilated yet. I guess we'll see.

He checked my fluid levels and heartbeat of baby and it all was good.

I have started to get a little nervous, but I am ready to get the show on the road. I know it will be hard and painful, but the joy is in knowing that our son will be here soon.

I will keep you all updated.

The due date has come and gone. Now its anyone's guess. But look at the 'days to go' counter on the left, it now says 1 day. Is this a bug, or does it know something we don't....hmmm

I hope this is my last post before Zachary gets here. I went to the mall today with Kristen and Kelly and their babies and we did two laps around NorthPark. If that doesn't make Zachary come out, I don't know what will. My ankles are a little swollen and I'm feeling more tired these days, but that all is probably due to the fact that it's about 100 degrees outside and I'm carrying about an extra 50 lbs. (I can't believe I just posted that - oh well)
Tomorrow is the due date. I am updating my prediction and I think he will come tomorrow.
Matt thinks he will come out on July 2nd (which also happens to be the date that my friend Nora is being induced). That would be cool if we had our boys on the same day! :)

False Alarm

I had a mini-contraction last night but it was just a false alarm. Every twinge, pinch, or otherwise unexpected pain I jump to thinking that "this might be it". I wasn't sure at first, but then when it didn't happen again I knew it was just a little false alarm. So, I sit here and wait... patiently.

39 1/2 Weeks

Went to the doctor this morning and I'm getting closer, but still no baby. I'm about 50% effaced and about 1 cm dilated. Doctor Singer estimates that Zach is about 7.25 lbs. right now and doing well. His heartbeat was about 145 bpm and he was moving around a lot when the doppler was on my tummy. We just can't wait for him to get here, but it will all happen soon enough.

38 1/2 Weeks - 10 Days to Go!

We went to our weekly appointment today and found out that there is still no progress toward Zachary coming early. Oh well.
I am still not dilated at all yet and just a little bit effaced. He has dropped significantly however, and I am measuring about 34 cm (down from 36 cm last week). He still estimates Zach being about 6 1/2 lbs. and I have actually lost 2 lbs., which is totally normal near the end of pregnancy.
We also made the plan to induce labor on the 7th of July if he ends up being overdue. Since my due date is June 28th that would mean that he would have to be 9 days overdue before we induced. Honestly I think (I hope) he will come before then. Only God can tell. If we do have to induce on the 7th that would be good too because the number 7 is Matt and I's lucky number. We had our first date on the 7th of December, we got married on the 7th of May, and maybe, just maybe, Zach will be born on 07-07. What more can we ask for?

37 1/2 Weeks!

I went to the doctor this morning and it looks like Zach is nearing his debut.
I was 25% effaced and not dilated at all. I am technically only 3 days away from being in my 9th month, so he really could join us at any time. Some of the other stats included measuring 36 1/2 cm which puts Zach at weighing approximately 6 1/2 lbs, a blood pressure of 108/62 and a healthy heartbeat for baby. I have another doctor's appointment next Wednesday, but as Dr. Singer says, "Maybe sooner". I'm still banking on the date of the full moon, or maybe even Father's Day. That would be nice.
Until then.... the bags are packed!
